An early snorkel to allow the SCUBA people access later in the morning. Kicker Rock, the most unusual, huge, rock formation I have ever seen. 100m. tall. The highlight was snorkeling through the split in Kicker Rock. As we snorkeled into the current, we were joined by turtles, stingrays, sea lions and sharks! A real traffic jam in there! An amazing experience, 1st class.

After a break on the boat, we took the dinghies to Cerro Brujo on San Cristobal Island. Again, lots of birds and sea lions, and a great introduction to the marine iguanas. Great to watch them walk out of the ocean onto the beach, primordial.
Also, we watched the blue-footed boobies skydive into the ocean for fish. They would spot a fish 40-50ft. in the air then dive bomb into the water. They would do this over and over again. A think this was based more on failure than success. The beach was also amazing. A huge 5-star stretch of sand with only us on it. A great experience.
| Boobies have been sitting here for many years. |
The afternoon took us to Lobos Island. This is blue-footed boobie land. They are everwhere. Male, female, adolescents. Great to watch them very close. Also, lots of frigate birds riding the wind. We even enticed a few to grab branches out of our hands as they hovered above. And, as always, once they grabbed branch they were mobbed by other frigates and the fight, midflight was on. Almost like a relay as they fought for the branch until it is dropped by the ‘winner’ and it starts all over again.
Another snorkel, this time poor visibility. But lots of baby sea lions, many very curious about what we were doing. Finally, after dinner, they took us into ‘town’ on Cristobal Island. Actually a pretty good size town. Container ship in the harbor, coast card cruiser, three main streets with hotels, bars, restaurants and ice cream! We got to walk around for an hour and a half for souvenirs, drinks, etc.
